Augmented Reality for emergency services

On 02.12.2013, the “On the spot” project started with a kick-off meeting at TU Delft. From TBM, Stephan Lukosch, Heide Lukosch and Dragos Datcu from the Systems Engineering Section are involved.

Goal of the project is to research if and how augmented reality (AR) techniques like AR glasses can be used to provide real time visualization of information needed for operational services of the police and fire brigades, which are also involved in the project. On the spot continues the successful research of the CSI the Hague project, which analyzed the use of augmented reality for crime scene investigation, and the CharliePapa project, which was aimed at fostering awareness and communication processes within reconnaissance work. Within the coming months, specific developments and research objectives will be formulated, and first scenarios will be developed with the project partners like the NFI, the Police in North-Holland, and the Fire Brigade of the Port of Rotterdam.
